# Full and Light Nodes

Griffin AI's network is structured into multiple tiers to cater to varying use cases as well as computational and storage needs.

### Full Nodes (Lion Client)

* Operated by active network participants and integral to the network’s operation.
* Operators:
  * SP — mandatory to operate a full node
  * CP — optional (can also run a light node or SDK)
  * Guardians — mandatory to operate a full node
* These nodes connect the operator to the Griffin Network.
  {% endcolumn %}

### Light Nodes (Eagle Client)

* Designed for participants with limited resources (e.g., client CP, individual developers, AI agents).
* Optimized for lower system requirements and focused on service execution.
* Limited in functionality compared to full nodes, but can access the full Griffin Network via connected full nodes.

{% hint style="info" %}
The network enforces differentiated staking requirements for full and light clients. Node operators are required to stake tokens to align their operational objectives with network goals and demonstrate commitment.
{% endhint %}

{% hint style="success" %}
Incentive mechanisms are being implemented to reward operators for hosting AI services and for participating in governance and network maintenance. These incentives aim to encourage sustained engagement and foster a collaborative, stable network.
